December 14th. Ten days to go. Exciting!

nissemand

This is our nisse. He looks a little like Santa now that I think about it.
But it's not Santa. It's a nisse. Which translates to something like "one of Santa's little elves".
But he's not really an elf, now is he? So I never know what to call a nisse in English.
And nisser aren't necessarily connected to Santa anyway. In old Scandinavian folklore
I think they originally lived on farms. In the attics, or just hiding out. And they would play
tricks on the farmers. At least if the farmers didn't give them bowls of porridge.
Or something like that.
Nowadays nisser don't play tricks on us, they just sit around and raise the christmas spirit.

Funtastic 14th to ya!
